Hi, I’m Cathy Laurenzi and I created this website because in my business as a real estate broker in Brevard County, Florida, I frequently receive calls from people all over the country thinking about retiring to my area. But often the people who contact me, chose my county for an arbitrary reason, not really having much knowledge of their options throughout Florida. Of course, I believe where I live is the best place in Florida, but everyone is unique, each having their own priorities and preferred lifestyle. That’s why I think those articles that list the best places in Florida to live (or retire) are silly. Every publication has a different list and none of them can possibly tell you what area is best for you.
This website is designed to help you make an informed decision about where to retire, and to help you plan and settle into living in Florida, regardless of which area you choose. In addition to the website, I am offering my services as a Florida Retirement Specialist (yeah, I just made up that title). I’ve lived in Florida all of my life and in addition to living in several different parts of the state, I have traveled extensively throughout Florida. The consulting services that I’m offering are simply that I am a resource to answer your Florida-specific questions and to bounce your Florida retirement ideas off of. I don’t charge you anything for this. So, you are probably thinking, “What’s the catch? Who would spend this much time and energy creating an extensive website and then provide free consulting services?” Good question. Allow me to explain how I make money…
If you eventually move to Florida and purchase a home through a REALTOR® that I refer you to, then I would get a portion of the commission that the REALTOR® received from the seller of the home. (Referrals between REALTORS® are not only legal, they are very common.) Of course, you have no obligation to use any REALTOR I refer you to and I would never give anyone your contact information without your consent. But if you don’t already know a REALTOR® in the area where you are moving, I’m confident that I can provide you with a valuable service by identifying prospective REALTORS® for you. I research and screen prospective agents throughout the state to find ones that I feel understand the contracts, know their area well, and will provide excellent customer service. I have no incentive to recommend one agent over another because I will get the same referral commission regardless of which REALTOR® I refer you to. (I do not shop around for who will give me the highest referral commission.)
